Re: National Flag Law

Vikram Laskar jee,in my first email I did not assert that it is an offense but asked :Is it not offense to keep the flag hoisted after sunset? This was discussed by our learned co-residents and finally we got the answer that there has been an amendment in the rule so it is not offense to display the National Flag subject to certain conditions.

Navin Jindal fought battle and won in supreme Court on 26 January 2002. The union govt approved the recommendations of inter ministerial committee headed by P.D. Shenoy to use Indian flags by all India Citizens on the same date. And  In June 2009 flag code got amended and for now Indian flags can flatter on nights as well but with a condition that pole should be more than 100 ft tall and area should be in open and well lit.

Have anyone went in CP you will find flag in the central court.
Faridabad it is there and perhaps the largest...

But, we follow dawn to dusk principle in our office, and Ministry of home Affairs, GOI also, still refers to Flag Code-2002.

And incidentally the flag in Cr is both tall and well illuminated with 4 spot lights. And these spit lights are always on during night even in case of power failure. So no issues and disrespect for the flag

Flag Code of India-2002 states "where the Flag is displayed in open, it should, as far as possible, be flown from sunrise to sunset, irrespective of weather conditions;"

I am afraid, Mr Khan is correct in his observation and he is updated too.
